12.12: The Day

Asiatiska Filmfestivalen återvänder till Bio Roy för fjärde gången och i samarbete med Koreanska Kulturinstitutet i Stockholm visas det här året ett program med fokus på koreansk modern historia.

Seoul, december 1979. Två månader efter mordet på president Park Chung Hee och införandet av krigslagar iscensätter general Chun Doo-gwang en militärkupp. För att lyckas måste han konfrontera den envisa försvarsbefälhavaren Lee Taeshin. Under ett enda dygn förändras Sydkoreas framtid - en natt som markerar början på slutet för "Seoul-våren".  

12.12: The Day kastar dig rakt in i ett nio timmar långt maktspel mellan lojalitet och svek. En intensiv och nervkittlande politisk thriller med en enastående rollbesättning. Filmen blev en av Sydkoreas största biosuccéer någonsin - och landets officiella bidrag till Oscarsgalan 2024.

As Defense Security Commander Chun Doo-gwang foments a military coup on the night of December 12th, he has to face the very obstinate Capital Defense commander, Lee Taeshin.  This night would dramatically change the fate of South Korea and marks the beginning of the end of the Seoul Spring.
